Hitchhiker's Guide To The Calvinistic Side Of The Blogosphere: Pastor Steve Weaver

This is the second in a weekly (monthly?) series that highlights different blogs that defend the sovereignty of God. This week, I am highlighting my brother, Pastor Steve Weaver.

Pastor Steve Weaver's blog features expositions of Scripture, book reviews, failing attempts at humor, and ruminations on culture from a Biblical perspective.

Currently, Pastor Steve is preaching through the book of Romans, and posts his expositions on a weekly basis. Some exceptional (they are all good) are, God Has A Free Will, Mortification Of Sin, and Five Golden Links That Cannot Be Broken.
Some book reviews that I enjoyed are, Future Men, Spiritual Disciplines For The Christian Life, and Disciplines Of A Godly Family.
Failing attempts at humor abound (just kidding). This post was pretty funny, but cannot be attributed to Steve, even if he did post it. Purple Pens And The Cult Of Self-Esteem is pretty funny, or sad, I'm not sure which.

Pastor Steve's thoughts on culture are excellent. From current events like President Bush's speeches, to current trends in thought, he always has a Biblical perspective on these issues.

So, go read Pastor Steve Weaver's blog! You'll enjoy it if you do.

Does God's Sovereignty need defended? Trying to defend God's sovereignty is like trying to defend a lion. I'm not defending, only proclaiming!

Your third comment was a little funny, I guess. Anyway, as for "failed attempts at humor," there's that "pot calling the kettle black" thing to consider.

Ha! Now that's funny!

No?

I'll write another comment as well.

I read his posts every day.

I particularly like the ruminations on culture.

Or any other ruminations I can come across.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

There is a new book that has just been released which I would recommend for your list.

The book is titled "The fall of Lucifer", written by Wendy Alec.

The book opens with the three Angelic brothers, Lucifer, Michael and Gabriel, in heaven before the fall. Over the course of the book, the essence of the angels is developed. The controversy arises when God created man to be higher than the angels, in that we are created in the image of God. Lucifer was embittered to the point of rebellion.

The book works through various historical events and offers the perspective of an angel into the event. The novel develops the beauty of heaven and the grotesque quality of hell, the depths of evil, and the beauty of grace. It communicates these themes through beautiful imagery and an intriguing plot. The beautiful imagery would make for amazing scenery! The book is through provoking and puts life into perspective.

This is a fast read, 300 page novel that is a good spend of your holiday cash. I hope they make this book into a movie. It would be amazing.

Jeremy, promoting your own brother's blog!!

Just kidding, it is well worth promoting. Does your congregation realize what they have in Pastor Steve? He seems an able expositor and faithful tot he text. I truly enjoy his writing.. i don't comment over there that often (sorry, Steve) but i do read all the time. I just lurk in the shadows!

I think the reason we don't comment as much over there is that we are left speechless as he covers all the bases.
