Evangelical Jargon ('Huh?')

I can't explain it without quoting Revelation 3:20 which, as you say, does not apply; but I can't think of any other Scriptural explanation.

I have asked Jesus to come into my heart more times than I can count. You'd think I'd know what it means, wouldn't you?

It means you don't have to repent of that nasty old self-rule, nor come to Christ as Lord for His rule - nor do you even have to trust God to do anything - all you need to do is say this prayer and if you believe that you did it the right way hard enough - then you won't have to go to hell when you die. (sarcasm should be obvious).

Galatians 4:6

See, just pull a key phrase out and you have a one sentence gospel.
